After appraising the feasibility and design potential of a wide variety of sites for two aspirational and entrepreneaurial mixologists, a city centre site was selected within the historic grade two listed Sunlight House as the venue for a new independent cocktail bar.
Inspired by the classic, timeless bars of the Kronenhalle in Zurich, and Harry’s Bar in Venice, the bar was envisaged as a stylish, ambient space with deep colours, strong textures and rich materials.
Blue leather fitted seating and low-level armchairs are planned to create intimate social spaces, where pendant lights drape a soft light over inspired cocktails and drinks as they are served on the polished marble table tops.
Table lamps gently illuminate the original stone window surrounds, this elevating the historic presence of the original building, whilst timber panelling is used at high level to exxagerate the generous height of the space. Timber parquet flooring provides a classic timeless floor finish that harmonises with the hand crafted timber bar installation.
To the exterior, original timber framed windows and doors are retained, with the original entrance being reinstated for use. Guests are immediately greeted by both bartenders, and the vast drinks selection illuminated behind. A new outdoor seating terrace has been installed for an open alfresco experience.
Fitted leather seating and ambient lighting creates a relaxed setting, whilst classic timber tones and textures combine with a rich navy blue to encourage intimacy
Original stone features have been retained and celebrated throughout, contrasted by adjacent dark blue walls and high level timber panelling
